If you find the Keyboard and Mouse Tandem hard for a game controller then you could plug up your favorite analogue controller with your PC and aside from these you could also connect your PC with your HDTV for better graphics and fun visual game experience. LHC boosts energy to snag Higgs ? and superpartners
It has already broken the record for the most energetic particle collisions, but the world's largest particle smasher is boosting its energy still further. Physicists at the Large Hadron Collider hope this will confirm or rule out tantalising hints of the elusive Higgs particle.
Although the Higgs is the LHC's main quarry, the biggest advantage from the boost in energy goes to searches for signs of supersymmetry, or SUSY. Many researchers had hoped that by now this elegant theory would have left traces in LHC, which is at the CERN particle physics laboratory near Geneva, Switzerland.
The LHC has already seen many events that could be signs of the decay of the long-sought Higgs boson, which is thought to endow other particles with mass. But more mundane reactions can also produce such events, so more experiments are needed to confirm or rule out the Higgs explanation.
Now the LHC's management has decided to boost the energy of collisions to get a better chance of flushing the Higgs out into the open.
Higgs boost
Last year, the LHC smashed two beams of protons together at an energy of 3.5?teraelectronvolts (TeV) each, resulting in collisions with a total energy of 7?TeV.
The machine's managers have decided to increase the energy of collisions to 4?TeV per beam, for a total energy of 8?TeV.
The probability of a collision producing heavy particles rises very fast as its energy increases, so even a small rise in energy will provide a big boost to the number of Higgs bosons made ? and therefore the probability of glimpsing them or other exotica.
Running at 8 instead of 7?TeV should boost the machine's sensitivity to Higgs particles ? assuming they are really there ? by 30 to 40?per cent, says Greg Landsberg of Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, who is involved in CMS, one of the LHC's two main detectors.
Heavy partners
The boost in energy also increases the chances that signs of SUSY will emerge.
The theory posits the existence of heavy partners for each of the subatomic particles already known. The move to 8?TeV could boost the production of these "superpartners" as much as four times, says Landsberg.
"We could get a little hint of existence at 7?TeV versus discovery at 8?TeV," he says.
Researchers want to maximise the potential for new discoveries this year because at the end of it the LHC will shut down for two years. Upgrades will then allow it to run at its full design energy of 14?TeV.
The Higgs boson should have already been confirmed or ruled out before then. The higher energy will allow a thorough search for the heavy particles predicted by SUSY, among other things.

The Importance of Agriculture in Australia
Australia is a major agricultural producer, and due to its great size and varying climates, there are many different notable industries, ranging from livestock, cropping and the fishing industry. As well as the jobs and revenue created from these industries there is also the many manufacturers that are supported by agriculture in the supply of critical equipment, such as tractors, ploughs, fencing tools, fishing boats, shearing gear, bird netting, fertilisers and milking machines. Agriculture also impacts other industries, such as transport and the food and clothing industries.
Dairy
The dairy industry is one of Australia?s major rural industries. It is estimated that approximately 40,000 people are employed on dairy farms and in manufacturing plants. Jobs are further created in transport and distribution, and research and development projects. It is a well established industry found in the temperate and some subtropical areas of Australia. The majority of dairy farms are found in Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania, and are responsible for the supply of milk that goes into the accomplish of many different dairy products such as butter, cream, cheese, yoghurt, powdered milk, ice cream, as well as the milk we drink.
Beef

Wool growing properties are found in the north of Queensland, just through current South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, around to the mid-north of Western Australia, as well as in Tasmania. Flocks range in numbers from a few hundred to as many as 100,000 or more. There are a variety of breeds found in Australia today with different sheep being mature for meat and others being wool producers, although it is the Australian Merino that has had an overwhelming influence on the Australian wool industry. Merinos have very heavy fleeces that execute a pretty, high quality wool, a lot of which is exported. Currently there are around 72 million sheep in Australia.
Seafood
Because of Australia?s geographical isolation from other continents and its range of climatic zones, the diversity and cleanliness of marine life is beneficial, meaning Australia can export a sizable range of seafood to the rest of the world. The fishing industry is the fifth most sterling in Australia after beef, wool, wheat and dairy. Australia is also the world?s largest producer of abalone and rock lobster.

The Custody Minefield: Gender Wars? Nonsense
The Government is proposing changes to family law legislation to ensure that children benefit from a continued, meaningful relationship with both parents following separation.
Already we're seeing journalists and other commentators attempting to draw battle lines between "mothers' groups and fathers' groups" as if only men support the changes, and women will naturally be opposed. It's a fallacy.
I know most of the groups that have been campaigning for shared care. Despite historic names, their memberships are made up from grandparents, mothers, step-parents of both sexes, and yes... fathers. The largest UK fathers' charity has had a woman as its chair for the last couple of years. Their offices are and have been staffed by men and women, and the women were no less passionate or dedicated to the campaign work and the reasons behind it.
Research is conclusive that children are disadvantaged when deprived of a father figure, and sadly, our family justice system has failed to safeguard children's welfare, and reflect parenting in the modern age. It is because of this failure that change is needed. We also know that society as a whole suffers from polarised as opposed to shared parenting. Teenage depression, delinquency, pregnancy, drug abuse are all linked to the reduction in the role or removal of the father.[1] Is this because men are more important parents than mothers? No, but the role and importance of fathers and the consequencial impact of loss has grown considerably.
Since 1970s, the level of father involvement in intact families has increased nine fold. The level of father involvement in childcare averages just 15 minutes less per day... 15 minutes [2], yet when a couple separates, the children's relationship is often reduced to alternate weekends, and only this year, official figures confirmed 20% of children of divorce see that relationship severed completely.

In 2009 I started a campaign to reform relocation related family law. While it was invariably mothers relocating with children (as 90% of children have mothers as primary carers), our arguments were based solely on child welfare rather than the rights of one or other of the genders. Two of the most vocal supporters for reform were from the UK's leading international family law firms... and were women. The MP who chaired the talks at Westminster was a women. At those talks, the representatives of the charity Reunite and the Centre for Social Justice were... women. To imply it is only men in super hero costumes who have been arguing for legal reform is a fallacy.
Bob Geldof wrote the foreword for our Parliamentary Briefing Report, and the press seized on his words 'The court is entirely informed by outdated social engineering models and contemporary attitudes rather than fact, precedent rather than common sense and modish unproven nostrums rather than present day realities. It is a disgraceful mess. A farrago of cod professionalism and faux concern largely predicated on nonsensical social guff, mumbo-jumbo and psycho-babble. Dangling at the other end of this are the lives of thousands of British children and their families.' [3]
His condemnation made the front page of the Mail and Telegraph, but the views of the Managing Partner of The International Family Law Group were no less damning:
'How can we, in the English legal profession, have gone so wrong, have failed so many children, have inadvertently engaged in gender discrimination almost 2 generations, have fallen so out of step with many other countries and, most of all, failed to acknowledge trends in parenting patterns, especially in international families, over the past 40 years?' [4]
The people in favour of family law reform and shared parenting care about child welfare. Those opposed, care about control, the protection of an industry which mainly serves itself, or are informed by personal experiences which are largely historic and bear little relation to modern family life.
Those opposed quote a small number of Australian studies, but if you read the detail of those studies, you'll find most are not opposed, and all admit to having relatively small and therefore unreliable sample sizes. Do these opponents point at the many other countries that now favour shared parenting... no. I've seen it written that a presumption of shared care has lengthened court proceedings in Australia, but those articles and blogs fail to mention that Australia's 'Less Adversarial Trial Scheme' which was intended to reduce the adversarial nature of proceedings was insufficiently resourced.
Those opposed state that each case must be judged on its own merits, but fail to point out that our system of family law makes outcomes a lottery based on the individual opinions, abilities and in some cases prejudices of the individual judge who hears the case. The 'wide ambit of judicial discretion' ensures inconsistency. I've seen cases many cases with nigh on identical circumstances have entirely different outcomes. There has to be guidance, and detailed guidance, and the rights of the judiciary to independence should not trump the rights of children and families to consistent justice.
Reform of Family Law isn't about mothers or fathers winning or losing, but updating the law to reflect parenting in the current millenium, to give the best opportunities to children, and the greatest benefit to society as a whole.
It's time to have a sensible debate and outcome, and not one based on a battle of the sexes, protecting an industy, or a rigid adherence to out-of-date traditions. It's time everyone grew up, and put the welfare of children first.

Blue Marble: The science behind NASA's spectacular Earth images
NASA has released two striking hi-res images of our planet, which the agency has dubbed the 'Blue Marble.'?Here is how the photos were captured.
NASA's newest Earth-watching satellite is beaming back spectacular views of our home planet ? huge mosaics of many images stitched together at the highest-resolution yet obtained. But there's a bit of science mojo at work to create the stunning photos.
Skip to next paragraphThe new Earth photos, which NASA scientists have dubbed "Blue Marble" views, come from the Suomi National Polar-orbiting Partnership (NPP) satellite. The minivan-size spacecraft is the first of its kind: an Earth-observing satellite built to collect data for both short-term weather forecasts and long-term climate models.
The latest photo was released Thursday (Feb. 2) and shows the sharpest view yet of the Eastern Hemisphere as it appeared on Jan. 23. The continent of Africa dominates the view, with the Middle East and Asia stretching up toward the top of the frame.
In the image, the Earth is striped by four huge vertical lines created by sunlight reflecting off the ocean. ?It follows on the heels of NPP's portrait of the Western Hemisphere, which NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center released last week and has been viewed 3.1 million times on the center's Flickr photo-sharing website.
NASA launched the $1.5 billion?Suomi NPP satellite?in October 2011 on a mission to help monitor Earth's weather and natural disasters like volcanic eruptions, wildfires and floods. Here's how the satellite captures the amazing Blue Marble Earth photos:
The Suomi NPP satellite photographs the Earth from about 512 miles (824 kilometers) in a polar orbit (a path that passes over the North and South Poles). While that orbit seems high, it is still not high enough to fit the entire Earth in a single camera frame. For example, Suomi NPP's?BlueMarble photos show the Earth?as it would appear to an observer perched about 7,918 miles (12,743 km) away.
So to make the whole-Earth images, NASA scientist Norman Kuring combined Suomi NPP observations of the same parts of the planet taken over six different orbits, or passes, over the terrain during an eight-hour period. Kuring then stitched the data into a complete mosaic, creating one huge image of Earth.
The Suomi NPP satellite beams about 4 terabytes of data to Earth every day, mission scientists have said. That's enough photos of Earth to fill 800 DVDs.
The extreme clarity of the Blue Marble photos comes from Suomi NPP's Visible Infrared Radiometer Imaging Suite (VIIRS), which is a high-resolution sensor package designed to observe Earth in different ranges of the light spectrum. As the satellite orbits Earth, it snaps photos over a strip of the planet about 1,865 miles (3,001 km) wide.
The VIIRS instrument is the biggest and most important tool of the five instruments riding aboard the Suomi NPP satellite, mission scientists have said. It is designed to measure ocean color, surface temperature, fires on Earth, cloud distribution and the amount of particles called aerosols in the atmosphere.
The Suomi NPP satellite is named after the late meteorologist Verner E. Suomi, who has been hailed as the father figure of satellite meteorology. The spacecraft is expected to observe the Earth through at least 2016. The mission is conducted under a partnership between NASA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the U.S. Department of Defense.
